Cut the Nuclear Threat Campaign

President Barack Obama is working to transform U.S. nuclear weapons policy. We now have the best chance in decades to achieve progress on this issue. But time is short and the conservative fringe inside and outside of Congress has launched vicious attacks against the agenda.

The political realities of running for re-election mean that by the end of 2010, the window of opportunity for major progress on nuclear arms issues will close.

To take advantage of this short time frame, Council for a Livable World has launched a campaign to Cut the Nuclear Threat! We insist on immediate action to complete a successor agreement to the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START); to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT); to secure all vulnerable nuclear material around the world within four years; and to negotiate a treaty that makes deeper cuts in nuclear weapons stockpiles.

Our goal is to raise $2 million dollars by the end of the 2010 elections. These funds will support our work to help achieve President Obama’s goals for nuclear weapons, and will help elect candidates to Congress to do the same. With a little over one year before the elections, please consider a gift to help us achieve this goal!
